I've finally got enough free time to start posting some of the things from my holiday in Zakopane. It's a small town at the foot of several of the Tatra mountains in Southern Poland and is in many ways the capital of Polish winter and outdoor sports.
As it was a national holiday (1st and 3rd of May) the main street, Krupowki, was teeming with people. It was also pretty cold the first couple of days that we were there.
One of the main attractions of this area are the wonderful views.
The nearest small mountain is called Gubalowka and there is, luckily, a train running up and down it.
Looking across the valley and the town you can see the most famous mountain in the area, the Giewont.
